Arlington, VA is about a 10-minute drive from the heart of DC. It was once part of DC, but was retroceded to Virginia in 1847.

Washington, DC is the only city in the United States that is not part of a state.
The origins of Georgetown's name are unclear: George Beall and George Gordon founded the area as the "Town of George", and King George II was the king of England at the time.
Arlington County is geographically the smallest county in the U.S.
